Crystal Stilts : In Love with Oblivion

Moody garage-psyche-jangle band Crystal Stilts release a new album 'In Love with Oblivion' on 11th April on Fortuna Pop! (UK) and Slumberland (US). Recent single 'Shake The Shackles' is just as fuzzy as their debut 'Alight Of Night' but hints things may have moved a few more steps popwards.

Frankie Rose & The Outs : You Can Make Me Feel Bad

I love this performance of Arthur Baker's 'You Can Make Me Feel Bad' by Frankie Rose & The Outs. It features on the ex-Vivian Girls/Crystal Stilts/Dum Dum Girls drummer and friend's self-titled debut album out now.

Nosferatu D2 : A Footnote

South London's Nosferatu D2 are managing the quite spectacular feat of releasing a debut album despite breaking up two years previously. Now that's commitment! Its a shame as the brother duo kick out a fierce sound that references angular 90s indie-rock like The Afghan Whigs, Arab Strap, Sonic Youth and Pavement.

William : 2004 - 2010

The excellent William play their final ever gig this weekend at The Fox & Firkin in Lewisham, London. This signs off the band after calling time earlier this year. Check out some of their best tracks below including (my favourites)'Aperture', 'Playground' and 'Five Minute Wonder'. They deserved to be massive.

Neon Circus : Digit-izm

Leicester's Neon Circus count Ian Brown, Who Made Who, The Rapture, LCD Soundsystem and DJ Shadow amongst their many influences, which shows in the gritty 00s punk-funk of 'Digit-izm'. Their debut single 'Future Disco' is released early 2010 ahead of an album.

Crystal Stilts : Alight Of Night

The wet dream of a moody 80s teenager, New York's Crystal Stilts have their debut album 'Alight Of Night' given a UK release by Angular Recordings. Haphazard 6Ts girl group influenced garage rock meets nonchalant, sombre vocals, resulting in an amalgamation of Jesus & The Mary Chain, Velvet Underground, The Cure and Joy Division. Detached introspection rules, with vocals buried deep in the mix of trashy guitars, elastic band bass and not-played-by-a-drummer-really drums. Blessed with the ability to write catchy pop songs and then destroy them, Crystal Stilts satisfy without appearing too bothered about it. Brilliant.

Buy the album on import at Amazon or get the UK version from Angular on the 16th of February.
